City Manager Molly (last name not provided) and Mayor Shelly Carlson used mayor/council reports on May 12 to highlight staff and city recognitions, including a Minnesota POST Board audit of the Moorhead Police Department, national recognition related to DG Fuels, and Moorhead’s GreenStep Step 5 designation.
The city manager said an April 28 Minnesota POST Board audit praised Moorhead Police Department organization, policies and training and noted Moorhead as an example for other cities. The manager thanked specific officers and staff cited in the audit and recognized the department’s work on hiring and training.
The manager also said the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development nominated Moorhead for a CC award recognizing economic development work with DG Fuels to establish a sustainable aviation fuel site at the McCarra Business Park; the project was listed among 10 nationwide recognitions.
Finally, the manager announced Moorhead retained GreenStep Step 5 status, the program’s highest level, citing LED streetlight conversions, increased urban canopy, greenhouse gas benchmarking, composting and complete‑streets planning. Staff and council members said the designation reflects institutionalized sustainability work across city departments.
Council members used their reports to note local events, public‑service meetings and committee activity; no formal council actions resulted from these reports.
