The apology and audit followed board concerns about who can view footage, how long video is kept and whether hidden cameras remain allowed. The audit presentation said the district has “over about 2,000 cameras” across school and non‑instructional sites and cited Board Policy 6702, which requires cameras be intentionally excluded from private spaces. The district said role‑based access is limited to specified staff — principals, lead safety/security officers and others — and that access and training are formalized and refreshed annually.
