Commissioners approve several equipment leases and maintenance contracts for courts, law enforcement and probation

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — The Lawrence County Board of Commissioners on May 13 approved multiple equipment purchases, lease agreements and maintenance contracts for courtrooms, law enforcement and probation offices.
The board approved a purchase of a new Clover Mini credit card machine for District Judge Russo’s office after staff reported the prior unit (purchased in February 2018) had stopped receiving security updates and ceased functioning. Sean Hula, a representative for the district judge’s office, told the board the new stationary Clover Mini will restore in-person card payment capability.
The board also approved a one-year maintenance agreement with SBM Electronics not to exceed $6,175 to support recording devices in the county’s five courtrooms. Amy DiRuccio, the county’s code administrator, said the county relies on those systems for daily courtroom recording and that SBM provides remote and on-site support.
Separately, the board approved 60-month copier lease agreements (through a vendor referred to as "Lalage Landin/Direct Image" in the packet) for the county detectives, the sheriff’s office and juvenile probation office. County officials said the leased devices offer remote access and timely in-person service; department representatives said the equipment receives frequent use and on-site fixes are typically same-day when problems arise.
Commissioners approved each contract by motion and roll-call vote. Officials said departments will execute purchase orders and sign lease documents as required. County staff also agreed to add district attorney and sheriff office contacts to the county's notification list for blasting notices after a recent Heidelberg Materials blasting schedule was discussed (the county received a blasting notification in the written correspondence list).
