The city covers a share of the cost for five SROs and historically provides two additional officers as a courtesy arrangement; the administration said the extra two can be reassigned if a city emergency requires them. The district also receives one SRO from Union County, for a total of eight SROs assigned to the district’s secondary schools.
Why it matters: The SROs cover all secondary campuses and the administration described the arrangement as long-standing. The annual increase to the SRO contract this year was described as small, about 2%.
Board action: The board approved the superintendent’s recommendation for the related consent items (which included the SRO contract) by roll-call vote, 4–0.
