Akron City Council granted conditional use approval 12–0 for a Type A child daycare home at 355 Saint Lehi Avenue.
Mister Antonucci, a city staff member, said Tiffany Goler requested permission to operate "Happy Bee's Childcare" from the first floor of a 720‑square‑foot ranch‑style dwelling. The staff presentation described the Type A home as providing care for a maximum of 12 children ages 1 to 14. Antonucci said the petitioner planned hours of Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and that the petitioner stated weekend and overnight care would be provided "as needed." Staff said the petitioner intends to hire two full‑time and two part‑time assistants if approved and that no interior or exterior changes to the house were proposed.
Tiffany Goler spoke to council and described her program as a "safe nurturing program" that gives parents "peace of mind" so they can pursue work or school opportunities. She told council her site will contribute to the local economy by enabling parents to work and said she asked for council support.
Antonucci said traffic engineering had no concerns with drop‑off and pick‑up at the Goodyear Heights location and that planning staff and the Planning Commission recommended approval subject to conditions. Councilman Fusco pulled the committee for a favorable report and council approved the ordinance 12–0.
The staff notice listed the address as 355 Saint Lehi Avenue; the applicant in testimony pronounced the street name differently (Saint Leger). This article uses the address as listed in the staff notice.
