Select Board members said the coalition — administered through the town of Shrewsbury and including more than 30 municipalities — helps member towns share consultant resources, training and public-education expenses tied to MS4 stormwater permitting requirements. Paul Hotnick (Department of Public Works) and the town manager told the board that pooled contracting reduces per‑town costs when the region faces regulatory changes or needs technical analyses.
Board members discussed and agreed to update the contract boilerplate to replace older terms such as “Board of Selectmen” with the town’s current usage of “Select Board” where the agreement refers specifically to Uxbridge. The board approved the agreement with that edit; the motion passed unanimously.
The Select Board authorized the town manager to execute the intermunicipal agreement with the caveat that staff finalize the wording change reflecting the town’s preferred title for the board. The board’s vote instructs staff to circulate the revised contract for signature and to monitor coalition activities that could affect local stormwater bylaws and outreach obligations.
