The Town Council voted unanimously Sept. 24 to deny a request to reduce a $2,568.20 code-enforcement lien tied to a trailer parked at 1755 Foresteau Boulevard.
Property representative Robin Cruz told the council he and his partners purchased the condominium property about a year ago, have invested in cleanup and repairs, and addressed ongoing trash and dumpster problems with Waste Management. He said the trailer violation was corrected the day after a town hearing and asked the council to reduce the lien amount.
Code enforcement officer Eric reviewed the sequence: a notice of violation was issued Jan. 23, 2024; notices of hearing followed; the trailer violation came into full compliance on May 23, 2024. Eric noted the property had prior, long-standing trash and maintenance issues that the new owners have since addressed.
Vice Mayor John Maples moved to keep the lien at $2,568.20; Council Member Taylor Metirio seconded. After brief discussion about the staff time and prior history, the council voted 4–0 to deny the requested reduction.
Council comments praised the new owner’s recent work to improve the property while also noting staff time spent on the code cases. The council encouraged continued cooperation with town staff on remaining property improvements.
