Board allocates $3,000 in ambulance-auction proceeds for water-rescue equipment

Buckingham County supervisors approved appropriating $3,000 raised from the auction of two ambulances to purchase water-rescue equipment for EMS and volunteer fire departments.
The EMS representative told the board the auction produced $3,000 and asked that the funds be returned to the EMS budget to buy life jackets, rope and other water-rescue gear to respond to flooding incidents. "This funding to get life jackets, rope that we can use throughout the county...in tandem with our volunteer fire department members" was requested to reduce future risk in flood responses, the EMS representative said.
A motion to appropriate the $3,000 to EMS for water-rescue equipment was moved and seconded and approved by voice vote. The transcript records "7 yes." Staff will oversee the purchase and distribution to EMS and volunteer fire departments.
