Bonner County Road and Bridge schedules cement-treated base and paving projects, invites board site visit

Road and Bridge Director Todd updated the Bonner County Board of Commissioners on multiple roadwork projects, including a cement-treated base project in Garfield Bay and near-term paving on Center Valley.
Todd said the county will start a cement-treated base project in Garfield Bay on May 21 and invited commissioners to observe the operation. He described the process: a contractor places cement in the roadbed, the county uses a road reclaimer to mix to a specified depth (about a foot), and the county places gravel and asphalt lifts to prevent reflected cracking. "We're one of the only counties in the Inland Northwest that actually has one," Todd said of the road reclaimer.
District crews are also preparing to pave Center Valley; Todd said Poe’s crew planned to start work in two days and expected to complete the initial paving in about four days, weather permitting. He noted culvert replacements are budgeted and that district crews will perform numerous localized repairs and patching. Todd reported receiving contractor quotes for specific repairs, with a low quote of about $17,000 from Interstate and a $19,000 quote from Woods.
Commissioners asked for notice of the Garfield Bay start so the board could visit the site. Todd agreed to provide time and location information. No formal votes or contract awards were taken during the update; Todd said staff will proceed with scheduled contractor work under existing procurement and budget authorities.
