The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury presented certificates April 24 to the Hamilton Christian School boys basketball team in recognition of winning the 2025 Louisiana High School Athletic Association Division IV Select state championship.
"This is a certificate of recognition presented by the Calcutta Parish Police Bureau on this April 2025 to you, head coach of Hamilton Christian Schools boys basketball team for a victorious season and winning the 20 25 LHSAA division 4 select Marsh Madness Basketball State Championship. Congratulations on your accomplishment and on a job well done," an official from the jury read while presenting certificates.
Coach Dix, identified in the ceremony as Hamilton Christian's head coach, thanked the police jury, the players and parents. "It is indeed an honor to represent Southwest Louisiana," he said, describing the team's cohesion and family structure as key to the season. He noted the program's seventh trip to the state tournament in seven years and called this the school's first state championship. He also announced that sophomore Jevon Vital was selected as player of the year in the state and has received an offer from LSU.
Why it matters: the presentation recognizes a local school's athletic achievement and highlights youth sports' role in community pride and economic-development outreach events that the jury later funded.
The jury invited the team and coach forward for photographs and distributed certificates during the meeting. No formal action beyond the presentation was taken.
