City of Otsego council members were updated Monday, Jan. 27 on emergency medical services arrangements, plans for medical direction, and the status of new response vehicles.
Daryl (staff member, public safety) told the council that he met with Brian Nord, operations manager for Allina Health, who he said “dispatches all . . . EMS services” and generally has response-time information. Daryl said Allina Health and its medical director are expected to serve as medical direction for the city’s EMS program and that Allina would likely provide both initial and annual refresher EMS training for staff.
Daryl also reported that the first two emergency vehicles for the city are under construction and are expected to be delivered around May. The transcript states those two units are being built in La Verne, Minnesota, and that a second pair will be built in Appleton, Wisconsin starting later; the council was told the schedule fits planned summer community activities.
Council members discussed attendance and representation at regional public-safety meetings; staff said ambulance services attend quarterly meetings and that Allina Health typically has good attendance while other providers vary. Council members set a joint council-public safety workshop for March 11 to review the project and related issues.
The transcript includes operational updates but does not record contract terms, training schedules, or formal approvals tied to the Allina arrangement in the excerpts provided.
