Board approves classification change for Resource Recovery Center electrician position

The Muskegon County Public Works Board on May 1 approved changing the classification for the Resource Recovery Center electrician (WF100) from grade 18 to grade 20.
The motion to revise the classification was made and seconded during the meeting; staff said the change will affect all employees in that grade. In response to a commissioner question about the fiscal impact, staff said the county has unspent money from the vacant position and that the change will not affect the department’s budget this year. Staff also said the single current electrician employee would receive the revised pay if the board approved the change.
The board recorded a roll-call vote with members present voting yes. The board did not attach additional conditions or direct an incremental pay study during the discussion.
