Board approves $1.334 million bid for Resource Recovery Center administration renovation; staff says bid exceeded budget

Johnson said the construction bid did not include engineering costs and that, if the board moved forward, the department would use reserve funds to cover the overage if reserves are adequate. He added that subcontracted categories such as mechanical and electrical each received three quotes during the contractor’s procurement.
The motion authorized contract execution and capital-budget amendments as necessary. The board completed a roll-call vote with members present recorded as voting yes.
The board did not adopt additional conditions or require rebidding as part of the approval. The meeting record does not state which reserve account will be used to cover the difference or whether the county will seek change orders or cost-saving revisions.
