Chris, a staff member, told the Points and Grounds Committee that the city’s current YouTube feed uses a back‑of‑room camera and that staff is exploring adding a smart camera at the podium that can focus on whoever is speaking and move to show materials displayed on side monitors during planning and zoning presentations.
He said the camera technology is similar to features already present in some remote‑meeting platforms and that the upgrade would improve remote viewers’ ability to see the speaker at the podium and planning exhibits. Chris said he expects the cost to be considered as part of the IT rollover and that staff would return with a specific price when available.
No procurement decision or budget appropriation was made during the meeting; the item was informational and staff will follow up with cost information.
