Hamilton County commissioners authorized staff to circulate an updated interlocal agreement for the county-managed fiber-optic ring and discussed an MOU related to First Due fire reporting software.
County staff explained the fiber-optic network has been used by municipalities and Riverview Health since an original interlocal in February 2005. The updated agreement modernizes user terms and was reviewed by the board that oversees the network; staff asked only for permission to send the draft to the cities for their review, not for immediate signature.
On First Due, staff said the county will continue to pay for the software next year while cities execute agreements; the county noted potential interoperability issues with an upcoming migration to a different CAD system (EN). The MOU under discussion would have cities indemnify the county for compatibility or integration issues. Commissioners approved circulating the documents to cities for review and indicated they will present final agreements to the board after municipal sign-off.
County IT and public-safety stakeholders will be included in subsequent meetings; the board moved and approved the authorization to circulate both agreements by voice vote.
