Leonardtown re-awards lawn maintenance contract to incumbent Woodlawn Lawn Care

The Town Commissioners voted May 12 to award a three-year lawn maintenance contract with two one-year options to Woodlawn Lawn Care, the incumbent contractor.
Staff reported the contract was publicly advertised and that Woodlawn submitted the sole bid. The packet shows the town paid $201,746 on the contract in the current fiscal year as of April 30, and that the year-one price on the new contract is $197,613. Staff said the contract resets the town’s scope of work and pricing to reflect added streets, parks and other areas that have been incorporated into the maintenance schedule.
A council member noted the scope and schedule can make the job challenging for private contractors and that only one bidder responded this round. Council moved to award the contract at the bid price with year-one at $197,613, year-two at $207,493 and a year-three figure included in the packet that was read at the meeting; the motion carried on a unanimous voice vote.
Staff said Woodlawn Lawn Care has performed the town contract for more than 25 years and provides additional donated services beyond the base contract. The town will execute the contract consistent with the bid and manage performance through the public works or parks schedule.
