Board approves personnel changes, promotions and union contracts; new lead technology supervisor named

The Anthony Wayne Local School Board approved multiple personnel recommendations, contract amendments and union agreements during its meeting.
The board accepted resignations including Jamie Carter (girls varsity basketball coach) and Josh Arthur (boys basketball coach). Terry Tansel was recognized as leaving after 12 years to become a principal at another district. The superintendent recommended promoting Devin to the district role of lead technology specialist supervisor and recommended Kevin Pfefferly to serve as assistant superintendent; both personnel actions were included in the board's motion and approved.
The board also approved continuing, limited and supplemental teaching contracts, administrative contracts and classified contracts per the district's standard procedures. The superintendent noted the contract progression rules for certified and classified staff and said supplemental contracts are renewed annually.
Separately, the superintendent reported that both union contracts (AWEA and OPC) were negotiated using a hybrid interest-based approach and that both unions had approved the contracts; the board voted in favor of the A-through-J block of agenda items, which included those collective-bargaining agreements.
Board members moved and seconded the motions and carried the approvals by roll call. The superintendent reminded the public the district expected to graduate approximately 319 seniors at BGSU on May 31 at 10 a.m.
