City staff briefed the Medina City Council finance committee on a proposed Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) urban paving/resurfacing project on Weymouth Road (State Route 3) between Broadway and Huffman and asked whether the city wished to proceed under ODOT’s schedule.
Staff said the contact from ODOT was unusual in that the department asked whether the city wished to move forward or request a delay; staff recommended moving forward because postponing would likely increase the city’s eventual cost share. The committee discussed funding and timing; staff indicated the city’s pavement account (108) had sufficient funds and the city is adding funds annually from another account (18) to support such projects.
The committee agreed to proceed with ODOT’s plan for the resurfacing project. Staff said the fiscal year for the work is likely 2027 and pledged to coordinate cost and scheduling details with ODOT.
No formal vote was recorded beyond the committee’s assent to proceed; staff will return with procurement/cost details as the schedule firmed up.
