City of Shepherdsville held a first reading of an ordinance to annex roughly 15.797 acres owned by Field of Grace Independent Baptist Church at 6275 South Preston Highway into city limits.
City staff read the ordinance as introduced on the council docket, described as "an ordinance pursuant to KRS 81A.412 annexing into the city Bullock County, Kentucky by consent of all property owners of partial real estate currently owned by Field of Grace Independent Baptist Church Inc, consisting of 15.797 acres more or less, located at and known as 6275 South Preston Highway, Shepherdsville, Bullitt County, Kentucky." The read summary lists the parcel ID (0480000017 / 04800000017A) and states the owner gave prior written consent.
The first reading included ordinance sections that describe the property, incorporate exhibits, and state the land is adjacent to city boundaries and “urban in character and suitable for development for urban purposes.” The ordinance text also states that, after annexation, the property would remain subject to the same land-use restrictions that applied under Bullitt County Fiscal Court prior to annexation.
Council members and staff noted the developer and neighborhood representatives had been engaged; staff said the developer ProLogistix plans to present a new proposal and that the item had been pulled previously from the agenda. The council set a second reading for June 9; the city also noted the meeting on May 27 would be a special budget meeting and not the second reading date.
No formal vote on annexation occurred at the first reading; members were invited to submit questions to staff and the developer ahead of the June 9 second reading.
