Commission approves $689,150 contract with Boyd Productions for two Las Vegas history documentaries

The Commission for the Las Vegas Centennial on May 12 approved contract number 250191-DG in the amount of $689,150 with Boyd Productions to produce two documentary films about early Las Vegas history, including projects titled 1911: A New City in the Desert and It Happened on Fremont Street.
A commissioner moved to approve the contract; the motion was seconded and passed by voice vote. The agenda authorized the president to execute the contract as approved by the city attorney.
City staff member Seth Floyd also reported on multiple ongoing and completed projects funded or supported by the commission. Floyd said the 1970s documentary would premiere May 17, the Paul Revere Williams documentary was expected in August 2025, the Maum Museum archives project was expected to finish in December 2025, and the two Boyd Productions documentaries are expected to be complete by December 2027. Floyd noted the Duck Duck event had been delayed to February and that staff was awaiting the final report. He also encouraged grantees to acknowledge Centennial funding in promotions.
