Board welcomes Joe Campolongo to expanded athletics role

The Middletown City Board of Education introduced Joe Campolongo and welcomed him as he prepares to take a larger role in the athletic department.
Board members noted Campolongo has been on staff for several years and described him as a positive, dynamic presence with students. The board president said Campolongo “will take charge, coming next year and this summer, for [the] athletic department,” and thanked him and his family for attending the meeting.
Campolongo told the board he values loyalty and wants to expand his presence beyond athletics into the high school and middle school hallways so more students recognize him. “I’m really big on loyalty. I’m a very loyal individual,” Campolongo said. He added that his family will be involved in events and that he is “very, very excited to get going.”
Board members said Campolongo has contributed to momentum in the district’s athletic department over his seven years with the district and that the board is grateful he agreed to continue in the expanded role. Campolongo’s placement on the consent agenda was processed with the other personnel items and included in the consent motion approved by the board; no separate contested vote or amendment was recorded.
