McLean County signs IGA with Connect Transit to expand rural public transportation service

The Executive Committee approved an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) with Connect Transit to operate rural public transportation services in McLean County.
Member Klein, presenting the item, said Connect Transit "is very eager and excited about taking over," and that the agency plans to begin with existing services while exploring phase-two expansions. Klein described planned outreach to other agencies to expand service corridors, including potential veterans and employment corridors.
Klein said the county will use "approximately a quarter of the funds that might be that we're allowed to apply for from IDOT," indicating the county has room to grow the program under existing Illinois Department of Transportation funding allocations before considering local contributions. "So right now, this is all state funding that will cover the current system and the expansion," Klein said.
The committee approved the IGA by voice vote. Member Klein said the Land Use and Transportation Committee will present additional items to the full board on Thursday.
