Speaker describes parenting classes, reading and after-school programs that serve families

Commenter, a meeting participant, described work leading programs that serve families and young children at a public meeting.

"A lot of work that I do involve working with families. I also do facilitate parenting classes to learn a little bit more about child development," the Commenter said. "This is very helpful for parents because they might not know or they didn't have someone that taught them how to parent." The speaker said they also do "early, education for children" and described themselves as "leader in 2 programs that we do."

The commenter named the two programs: "The first 1 is little listeners and we read books to them. We do activities with them. And then we also do homework club, which is almost kind of like tutoring. It's an after school program where children come." They said volunteering "gives me that fire to keep going" and described the experience and skills gained as meaningful: "There are skills that I didn't know that, you know, I could potentially have, but I can say that that's made a change in me, and it's something that I will always carry, you know, for the rest of my life."
