The request came by email from Brenna Mingus seeking space for a homeschool "learning pod" of about 25–30 children for two to three hours weekly. A township representative summarized the request and noted the township routinely donates community-center space to local groups such as Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and 4-H.
Trustees discussed logistics and costs. The township noted a required staff opening/closing charge (Sandy) of $20 per visit and cleaning (Janice) that could add roughly another hour of labor. The board suggested a trial period through the summer and an early-September review; one trustee said: "I'll take it till, like, September. Look at it in, like, 3 or 4 months. Let them have it at no charge right now. Let's see and then reevaluate it." The trustees agreed to the trial and to inform the requester they may impose a fee later to cover costs, with preliminary estimates of $50–$75 per session if charges are needed after the trial.
Why it matters: the decision allows local families expanded learning and socialization opportunities while the township limits fiscal exposure through a time-limited trial.
There was no recorded formal motion to charge; trustees indicated the trial and a follow-up evaluation will be handled administratively and brought back to the board if a fee is proposed.
