Trustees approve bond payment and multiple park purchase orders; playground curbing and fountain funded

Morgan Township trustees on May 12 approved a payment on the 2019 fire-station improvement bond, created a new fund to accept a $5,000 Ross Community Grant for a park drinking fountain, and approved purchase orders for park improvements.
Fiscal officer statements and subsequent trustee votes established immediate financing for park work and the bond payment. The fiscal officer requested a purchase order (PO) to LCNB National Bank for $35,167.15 for the principal and interest payment on the Fire Station Improvement Bond Series 2019, to be paid from fund "21 11," with $20,600 recorded as principal and $14,567 as interest; trustees moved and approved the PO.
In park work, trustees approved creating Fund 29 15 and depositing a $5,000 Ross Community Grant to pay for a water fountain. Trustees then approved a PO from that new fund to Westwood for $4,995.63 to purchase the fountain.
Park project procurement was adjusted after a contractor (Ventura) declined part of the job. Trustees approved amending PO 10-2025 from $49,237 to $4,000 and approved a new PO from Fund 1000 to Rack and Blauer for $34,232.50 for playground curbing and shade features. Darren, speaking for the park project, said Brumbar Engineering will lay out the playground and that Brumbar is familiar with the site. He also said a utility vehicle (XUV 8405) had been ordered and would be paid for with funds from the Hamlin Community Fund.
Park operations updates included tree planting work (26 trees completed so far) and coordination with the road department to protect the paved trail during heavy construction traffic. Road department staff said they will use road plates to protect blacktop and coordinate access with Butler County and the contractor.
Why it matters: the approved POs and fund action allow the township to complete scheduled park amenities and maintain bond obligations without delay.
Trustees approved each PO and the fund addition by recorded voice votes at the meeting; staff will proceed with procurement and scheduling.
