Director of Development Services Jeff Bukowski described the work as the third phase of sidewalk repairs prioritized through a PASER (Pavement Surface Evaluation and Rating) study; the phase focuses on routes that connect multiple schools and new Highland Road bus stops. Bukowski said a clerical correction in a bid calculation produced a lower contract price than earlier estimated.
A motion approved Prime Construction & Excavation as contractor for $405,113.44, retained DLZ for construction‑phase professional services at $30,400 and authorized a $40,512 contingency. The total authorized budget for phase 3 is $476,026 to be charged to the appropriate ARPA line items.
The board voted in favor on a roll call; all trustees recorded votes in favor of the project. Trustees said the pedestrian links are important for student safety and for linking neighborhoods to transit and schools. The work is scheduled to proceed under township procurement rules and with standard construction oversight.
