Committee sets June public hearings on PUD and comp-plan map amendments, names Planning Commission liaison

The Committee of the Whole on April 22 recommended Joel Strebel be the alderperson liaison to the Planning Commission and closed nominations before approving the appointment unanimously.
The committee also voted to set a public hearing for 6 p.m. on June 2, 2025 before the Plan Commission on a request to rescind PUD overlay Ordinance 2679 (Mandel neighborhood development plan), as amended by Ordinance 2688, and to adopt a new Plan Unit Development ordinance 2701 that would rezone multiple parcels at 1640 South Morland Road (tax keys listed in the motion) to RM1 PUD and C2 PUD as a Conservancy Neighborhood Development PUD. The motion specified the parcel tax key numbers included in the public notice.
In a separate motion, the committee recommended that a joint public hearing be set for 6:01 p.m. on June 2, 2025 regarding an amendment to the city's comprehensive plan future land use map (chapter 10) and chapter 19 (neighborhood I, National Avenue West). The proposal would change properties at 16370 and 16380 West Small Road (tax key numbers included in the motion) from Residential Estate to Southern Suburban Commercial with a PUD overlay and rezone those parcels from B2 and R3 to B2 PUD.
Both hearings were set by motion and passed by voice vote. The committee’s actions will be forwarded to the Plan Commission and the Common Council as required by city procedure.
