Committee advances $763,600 contract increase for Auditor General's office renovations

"This is to add that funding to the contract for Detroit Wayne Joint Building Authority," Auditor General Laura Goodspeak said, describing the final construction phase for the OAG office. Goodspeak said demolition is complete, the structure is going up, and the office has procured about "95 percent" of furniture and technology. She said the office targets an early June move-in and that the additional funds were previously approved in the recent budget amendment.
Committee members asked for any questions; none were raised. The committee moved to send the line item to formal with a recommendation to approve, and "hearing no objections, that action shall be taken." The resolution will go to formal council for final approval.
The contract amendment is with the Detroit Wayne Joint Building Authority and was described as adding previously approved budget funds to the construction contract for final purchase orders and completion.
No roll-call vote was recorded in the committee transcript; the item advanced by unanimous consent. The OAG said procurement of furniture and technology was completed ahead of tariff risks and that construction is in its final phase.
