Coon Rapids City Council adopted assessments for the 2025 street reconstruction project (project 25‑1) by approving resolution 25‑1‑Sub12. Council awarded the construction contract April 15 and staff reported that work had started in earnest the week of the May 6 meeting.
Staff reminded the council that 17 property owners had filed written objections at the earlier public hearing in February; those owners received follow‑up letters explaining the objection process and staff said no formal written objections had been filed since. Public works staff told the council the project covers multiple neighborhoods and affects 456 single‑family residential properties and 77 townhome/condo units.
Council member Novak moved to adopt the assessments; Butler seconded and the council voted to adopt the resolution. Staff said the project was scheduled to be substantially complete in early October and that construction had already begun.
The resolution adopts the final assessment amounts and authorizes collection under the city’s assessment procedures; staff said property owners who previously filed objections were notified of the post‑hearing process and no further written appeals were received.
