The Simsbury Board of Education voted to accept the resignations/retirements of four staff members, effective June 30, 2025.
The board motion accepted the retirements of Roseanne Calandro (science teacher, with service in elementary and high school), a 25-year English department teacher named Dan Deanna, Shira Flowers (20 years of service) and Christine Golden (student social worker and administrative staff who returned to a social work role at Hooton Hills). The superintendent noted the combined district service and thanked them for their years of work.
A motion to accept the retirements was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote; no opposing votes were recorded in the meeting transcript. Board members and administrators remarked on the long service and contributions of each retiree and congratulated them on plans for retirement and future travel.
The retirements will be recorded in district personnel records with an effective separation date of June 30, 2025. The board did not take immediate action on replacements during the meeting; staff said recruitment and staffing follow-up will proceed under the superintendent’s direction.
