Board accepts gifts for robotics, athletics and fencing; approves chamber scholarship

Each gift exceeded the district policy threshold for board approval and was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
Separately, the board approved a $750 Granby-Simsbury Chamber of Commerce scholarship to be dispersed in 2025 and agreed to administer the selection process internally at Simsbury High School this year. District staff noted that the chamber will also provide a matching $750 scholarship for a Granby High School senior, allowing both communities to recognize one student each.
Administrators said the robotics donation and fencing gift will be used for supplies, equipment and program support, while the hockey association gift will offset rental costs for ice time. The scholarship change transfers the chamber’s prior external selection process to the high school’s internal procedures for 2025.
Motions for each gift and the scholarship were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote; the transcript records the approvals without a roll-call tally.
