Town officials said they will investigate a suspected sewer problem under Adams Field before completing paving, and they signaled an imminent change order to address water pooling at the Lexington and Collin Kelly crosswalk.
Commissioner Andrews said the bulk of pedestrian improvements at Adams Field are complete but paving has been delayed because "it appears we might have a bit of a sewer issue under the road over there." He said the Department of Public Works expects delivery of a new sewer truck and that staff will inspect the pipes before any paving so the township does not repave and then have to dig up the roadway again.
On the crosswalk, Andrews said the township is preparing a change order to address ongoing pooling; the contractor expects to make the repair this week, weather permitting. "We are putting the funds in now to make the repair and the contractor tells us that they should be able to do it this week," he said.
Why it matters: Residents had complained about unfinished work and standing water. Officials said the sewer inspection will reduce the risk of repaving only to reopen trenches for pipe work, and the change order seeks to correct a safety and accessibility issue where pooling has occurred.
What officials did and did not decide: The committee approved placing funds for the crosswalk repair (a change order is forthcoming) and directed staff to inspect the Adams Field sewer line; there was no final paving date while the sewer issue is investigated.
Next steps: DPW to receive the new sewer truck, inspect the Adams Field area, and report findings; the contractor will perform crosswalk repairs when weather permits.
