United Way director Ashley Winch tapped for Marshfield housing subcommittee; survey planned

Marshfield staff proposed appointing Ashley Winch — executive director of United Way and the new president of the Community Development Authority (CDA) — to an ad-hoc housing subcommittee as the council reconstitutes membership.
Mayor Lois Teastreich said Winch asked to serve and that the proposed subcommittee will include CDA members Mike Feier and Ashley Winch, Council Member Natasha Tompkins, Rebecca Spiros and the mayor. Teastreich described the body as an ad-hoc subcommittee rather than a formal standing committee and said the group is preparing a housing needs survey for lenders, realtors and the public.
Teastreich said the survey (being finalized by council members) is expected to be released soon and will inform efforts to identify affordable housing needs, potential sites, and other policy options. The mayor said the subcommittee will meet in June if appointments are finalized; she also said that the housing committee is not expected to require a second reading for appointment because it is an ad-hoc body.
No formal appointment vote was recorded during the preview; staff said the matter will be on the council agenda.
