Marshfield advances small park projects: Breen Park basin contract, pickleball lighting extension, donated portable toilets

Steve Barg, the city administrator, told the preview committee that the geotechnical services contract for the Breen Park wet detention basin is recommended to ECS Midwest LLC for $11,295. Barg said two proposals were received and the city prefers the lower-priced firm.
On the Brainpark (pickleball) court lighting, staff said the local contractor Merkel requested a 30-day extension because of supply-chain delays; the Board of Public Works is supportive. The parks director subsequently told staff the full 30 days might not be necessary but staff recommended allowing some leeway so lighting can be completed before peak summer use and tournaments.
Staff also described a donation totaling $2,800 for portable facilities in outlying parks — $2,000 from the Marshfield Community Foundation and $800 from Walmart — and requested a budget transfer to move those donated funds into the correct parks account so the toilets can be purchased and deployed to Forest Ridge Park and the UW-Stevens Point field.
All three items were presented as consent/administrative matters to be brought to the council for routine approval; no council votes were recorded during the preview.
