Project Pride seeks larger downtown container budget as volunteers and staff maintain public spaces

Ridgewood — Project Pride leaders told the council the downtown planters and containers are in rough shape and requested increased funding to replace cracked containers, add holiday lighting and support watering and planting events.
Parks Director Nancy Bigos and Project Pride volunteers said many containers have been damaged by weather and vehicle strikes; the group requested additional funds to buy new planters and support increased summer watering and container maintenance. Staff said Project Pride and related volunteers supply many hours of work to keep the downtown attractive, but some replacements and heavier maintenance will require municipal support.
Council members noted the requested increase from about $15,000 spent last year to a proposed $25,000 this year and said they would review the request as part of the capital and operating budgets. No formal appropriation was made at the meeting.
