Norfolk County Commission approves seasonal hires and appoints night custodian; introduces new procurement fiscal specialist

At its April 30 meeting the Norfolk County Commission approved a set of personnel actions for seasonal and maintenance roles and the county director introduced a new hire in procurement.
Commissioners moved as a group to approve seasonal rehires and contingent hires for the Walston Recreational Facility’s golf operations, with effective date and rates in the packet (effective May 1, 2025). The commission then approved the appointment of John Davis as a night custodian in the maintenance department, effective May 5, 2025.
During the county director’s report, staff introduced Alec Marino as the new fiscal specialist in the procurement unit. Marino previously worked for the commission as a contracted intern and is a graduate of the Isenberg School of Management at UMass. Director remarks said Marino will work with procurement staff on customer-service improvements; Marino briefly spoke and commissioners welcomed him.
Commissioners asked staff to have the newly appointed night custodian come by next week to be introduced in person; no conditions or dissent were recorded during the motions. The seasonal hires and the night-custodian appointment were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote during the meeting.
