Committee recommends council approve $161,281.90 bid for 2025 street resurfacing project

Public Works staff presented bids received for the 2025 Street Resurfacing program and the committee recommended council approval of the apparent low bid for the mill-and-overlay work.
Staff said bids were received April 3 and the low responsive bid for the package shown in the packet was $161,281.90. The mill-and-overlay includes full-depth removal and roadbed repair on South Winnequita (Bridge Road to Bartles) and standard mill/overlay or chip-seal work on other local streets. Staff said the city will receive a local road improvement grant of “just over $32,000” to contribute to the South Winnequita work; the packet also referenced a capital budget line shown as “$3.10” (units not specified in the meeting packet). Staff explained bid prices are valid for at least 60 days and that the public works crew will perform additional patching and minor adjustments to new pavement heights.
A committee member moved to recommend approval; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. Staff said if additional money is available, the project scope can be adjusted to include additional patching or roads.
Ending: Staff will forward the committee recommendation to City Council so the award can be included in council readings and contract administration.
