County grants board approval for dog boarding kennel on Christiansen Road

Laramie County commissioners granted board approval Jan. 20 for a dog boarding kennel proposed for Tract 8, Stern Subdivision (6912 Christiansen Road).
Justin Arnold of Laramie County Planning and Development told the board the 9.85-acre property is in the agricultural and rural residential zone and that a kennel is a use permitted by board approval. Arnold reviewed agency comments concerning waste-handling standards and buffering; staff recommended approval with no conditions, finding the proposal conformed to applicable Laramie County Land Use Regulations.
Shane Hansen, agent for the applicant (South Surveying Services LLC on behalf of Lewis Herbis), and Meredith Summers, present at the hearing, were available for questions. Justin Arnold said required public notice and posting were completed and that agency comments were included in the staff report.
Justin Arnold also noted one written public comment from Jeff Teasley, a disabled Navy veteran, who praised the applicant’s prior assistance in training a service dog. Commissioners moved to approve the board application and adopt the staff findings. The motion passed on a roll call vote.
The staff report and file include the site plan and agency comments; the commission approved the dog boarding kennel with no conditions recorded in the hearing.
