Laramie County opens application window for $2.5M in opioid settlement funds

Laramie County on Feb. 18 announced a public notice and application process for roughly $2.5 million in opioid settlement funds, opening a grant round for county organizations and service providers.
Sandra Bay, Laramie County grants coordinator, told commissioners the county established an opioid task force in 2024 to inventory local needs and develop a scoring matrix and application. "This task force has created a grant application and a scoring matrix to guide the funding allocations," Bay said. She said applications are due March 31, 2025 at 12 noon; awards and notice agreements are expected in May 2025.
Bay said the commissioners have approximately $2,500,000 to allocate to local programs, with a $500,000 cap per applicant. Hard-copy guidance may be requested from the county grants office; materials are posted on the county website. The task force includes representatives from the sheriff's office, the hospital, county staff and mental-health providers, she said.
Commissioner Heath reiterated the money is restricted grant funding and must be accounted for in county reserves and spent only on allowable opioid-related activities.
Ending: Staff will receive applications through March 31, score them via the opioid task force, and return recommendations to the board for awards in May.
