Laramie County moves to readopt 2024 International Fire Code, plans April adoption

Laramie County commissioners voted Feb. 18 to publish public notice of the county's intent to adopt the 2024 International Fire Code and to return fire-code enforcement to county staff.
Justin Arnold of Laramie County Planning and Development said the county deferred enforcement of the International Fire Code about 18 months earlier but concluded the county would more efficiently process permits and guide customers by taking enforcement back in-house. "We feel we can backfill the requirements of enforcing IFC," Arnold told the board, and staff proposed a 45-day notice of intent followed by an April 15 adoption date.
Commissioners expressed support for staff taking on the enforcement duties. Chairman Malone thanked staff and said the county had concluded county staff would best provide the service "as a requirement of state law." The board approved the resolution by roll call.
Ending: The county will issue the 45-day public notice required to adopt the code and, barring unforeseen changes, plans to adopt the 2024 International Fire Code April 15.
