Staff and commissioners agreed that a prioritized, geographically specific target — for example, infrastructure upgrades in Callio and Reville — improves competitiveness for grants that cover infrastructure impacts, road work, or sewer capacity improvements. Maurice said the county had some local loan funds that need guideline updates and that staff were holding some applications while grant windows remained uncertain.
No new grant applications were opened at the meeting; the commission asked staff to keep tracking non‑federal foundation funding and to connect prospective applicants to alternatives while federal programs remain constrained. Several commissioners volunteered to help assemble project packages if a clear target emerges.
