A presenter for the Show Low Museum said the museum is featuring a wood beam from what the presenter described as the earliest known barn built in Show Low, recovered from the Reidhead Ranch.
The presenter said the Reidhead Ranch barn—where the beam originated—was a place of personal memory and local activity, including visits by cavalry who slept in the barn and put their horses into the meadow that the presenter identified as the same meadow today. The museum display pairs the beam with photographs of historic barns from the area.
The presenter said the barn suffered a collapse during a 1967–68 snowstorm and that only the lower half was used afterward. The presenter identified local families tied to the site, naming the Staley family and the Grama family as having hosted and provided for cavalry that stopped at the ranch on their way to Fort Apache.
The presenter described the display as part of the museum’s Ranchers Hall of Fame and invited the public to visit. “Stop in for a visit, we are open Wednesday through Saturday 10 to 3 or by special appointment. We’ll see you next time,” the presenter said.
The exhibit, as described in the presentation, centers on material culture and photographs that document barn construction and local ranching history in Show Low. No formal actions, funding details, or policy changes were discussed during the recorded remarks.
