The Hancock County sheriff updated commissioners May 8 on items agreed during the 2026 budget workshops and the county's budget responsibility commitments.
The sheriff said the office accepted a collections company to collect personal property taxes and provided the commission with its comp time policy. Commissioners confirmed the sheriff had discussed providing a list to the collector and voted to make the update a matter of record.
Separately, the commission approved routine administrative items in the circuit clerk's office including advertising for a deputy clerk position and moving Emily Trautman from full-time to part-time effective May 1, 2025, to be called in as needed for vacations and sick days. The commission also accepted the animal shelter in-and-out report for April 2025 and approved general county bills totaling $178,471.64 and P-card funds of $76,517.82 by voice vote.
No objections were recorded in the meeting minutes for the administrative items; votes were taken by voice and recorded as "Aye."
