Hancock County commissioners voted to accept bids and contract for replacement of security cameras and panic alert systems at the Hancock County Courthouse Complex during their May 8 meeting.
Commission President said a panel of four reviewers scored proposals independently and recommended AST for the camera installation, and the commission approved the recommendation by voice vote. "There was not just 1 person's input on this, and it's taken several hours of time they've put into this," the president said, adding that the award includes a five-year maintenance agreement.
The commission also approved replacement of the courthouse panic alert systems and noted both projects will be paid through congressionally directed spending grants and fall within the amounts allocated for those grants. The projects were approved without recorded roll-call tallies in the minutes provided; commissioners voted "Aye" to approve both items.
No implementation schedule was given in the meeting packet read into the record. Commissioners said the procurement process used a scored RFP and anonymous reviewers to limit bias.
