Anthony Rapp told the finance committee the district received six bids for nine‑seat passenger vans intended for student transport but that the apparent low bidder declined to provide a required bid bond and asked to withdraw the bid.
Rapp said a bid bond is necessary because the vans are specified to be delivered early in the 2025‑26 school year and a bond would hold the vendor to that delivery schedule. “We do think a bid bond is necessary because 1 of our specifications was that the vans will be delivered in the early 25, 26 school year,” Rapp said, explaining that if a vendor missed that delivery window the bond would be forfeited.
Because the withdrawal occurred on short notice, Rapp said the district will bring the procurement back to the board next month and ask members to approve the next lowest responsive bidder then. No contract award was approved at the May 8 meeting.
