Town of Fries requests $202,600 from county to replace failing water filters

Grant asked the board to consider that amount in the county budget to allow the town to proceed.
Board members asked whether the town had considered loans and whether the ARPA and Mount Rogers funds had timelines or memorandums of understanding; Grant said the town had not yet pursued a loan and would need town-council approval to seek borrowing and that the Mount Rogers award and ARPA allocation were covered by a memorandum of understanding.
The request was presented as a funding ask during the board’s reports and presentations; the board did not take immediate action on the request during the meeting.
