Committee approves reallocation of jail lock funds to upgrade CCTV servers after recent failures

Undersheriff Justin Ames told the committee that the Sheriff's Office has had servers fail over recent months and that camera footage requests from attorneys and for litigation have become difficult to satisfy. "We're now down to where we can only recall about 24 hours' worth of video," Ames said. The agenda noted $305,000 had been approved in FY25 for locks and the Sheriff's Office requested approximately $168,000 to upgrade CCTV.
