Tri‑Creek recognizes students and music department; precision‑machining students win state SkillsUSA title

At the start of the meeting the Tri‑Creek School Corporation Board of School Trustees held special recognitions for student and program achievements.
The board read and adopted commendations congratulating Lowell High School diver Michael Kennedy for advancing to the Illinois State finals and placing in the state finals. The board also recognized Elizabeth and Catherine Perrigo for selection to the Indiana All‑State Honors Choir and the Lowell High School music department for earning the Indiana State School Music Association (ISMA) Total Department All‑Music Award for the 2024‑25 school year. Presenters noted the music department’s statewide distinction—only 22 districts earned the award out of 351—and highlighted gold ratings, qualifying soloists and ensemble achievements across band, choir and jazz programs.
The board also recognized a precision‑machining team—Ethan Herjack, Seamus Meehan and Jesse Wolf—for winning first place in the SkillsUSA state automated manufacturing technology team competition. The recognition noted the team’s state title and praised the students and instructor for their work.
Later in the meeting the district provided a fuller report from the career and technical education program. The presenter described SkillsUSA and other competitions the students entered: teams received blue ribbon results at regional events, were required to draw, program and set up machines from basic equipment, and in some contests complete additional prints given mid‑competition. The administration said the district’s team completed a full part that none of the other teams finished; panel judges evaluated drawing, programming and machine setup. The presenters brought two students from the team and displayed program trophies and classroom projects.
Board members and the superintendent thanked the students, the music staff and CTE instructors. No board action was required—the recognitions and CTE report were ceremonial and informational.
