Board approves CNA lab upgrade, emergency gym roof repair and new HVAC assistant post; budget revision and classroom site payout also approved

HVAC assistant position: District leaders requested authorization to create and fill an HVAC assistant position to perform ongoing preventative maintenance in‑house. The presenters said the district spent roughly $220,000 this year on an outside contractor for HVAC work and estimates hiring the HVAC assistant will save about $154,000 annually and improve preventive maintenance continuity. The board approved the new position (motion passed) and staff said the existing outside contract can be canceled with 30 days’ notice.
Budget revision and classroom site fund distribution: The board approved the required May revision to the 2024–25 budget per ARS reporting rules. Separately, the board approved a prorated one‑time payment from the classroom site fund to newly included 2100‑function employees (those added this year) in the amount of $2,156 each based on FTE; presenters said this payout will be funded from accumulated surplus and will not reduce the performance‑pay pool for teachers. Both items passed by motion.
