Judge signals special meeting to award Sugar Maple Square renovation; bids reviewed

Warren County Fiscal Court reviewed bids for the Sugar Maple Square renovation on May 8 and the judge said the county will likely hold a special called meeting the following week to award the contract.

The judge told magistrates that five bidders submitted proposals for the renovation project and that staff will review the bids in detail before a vote. He said he would not wait until the court's regular May 23 meeting to make the award and apologized for scheduling the bid opening close to the fiscal court date. "More than likely, we will have a special called meeting at some point next week to award that," he said.

No formal vote to award the contract was taken during the May 8 session. The judge said the court will give magistrates several days to digest the bids after staff completes its review and will provide notice before a special meeting is scheduled.

The Sugar Maple Square renovation was discussed in the context of relocating or renovating facilities for the sheriff's department; the judge said the county intends to move quickly but did not provide a projected award date or the proposed contract amount during the meeting.

Court members emphasized they will receive bid documents and time to review them before any award. A special called meeting will be publicly noticed and will include a formal motion, second and roll-call vote when the award is brought forward.
